ACAAD has been organizing the International Design Research Conference (IDRC) annually for the past five years, establishing a strong international platform for researchers to present their work and engage with the global academic community. The conference fosters scholarly exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue, and collaborative research in the fields of art, architecture, and design.
The IDRC emerges as a natural academic extension of ACAAD’s decade-long legacy of hosting the International Design Competition (IDC). For over ten years, the IDC has provided a global platform for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as young architects, to explore innovative design ideas through thematic competitions. Building upon this foundation, the IDRC strengthens the institution’s academic vision by encouraging research-based inquiry, critical discourse, and scholarly documentation through research paper presentations.
Since its inception in 2020, the IDRC has addressed diverse and contemporary themes each year:
Expanding beyond the conference platform, the IDRC has further evolved into an annual international research journal titled Shodhaditya. All peer-reviewed research papers presented at the conference are systematically documented and published in the journal, ensuring academic rigor and wider dissemination of knowledge.
Shodhaditya is an internationally recognized research journal with (ISSN: 2347-8403) published annually in two volumes—one in collaboration with AISMR and the other under ACAAD. The journal serves as a significant academic repository that archives contemporary research contributions in art, architecture, and design.
Through the IDRC and the publication of Shodhaditya, ACAAD continues to strengthen research culture, promote intellectual inquiry, and support both the academic and professional communities at national and international levels.
